Located just north of Austin in Georgetown, Texas, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter serves the unincorporated areas of the county along with the municipalities of Cedar Park, Leander, Hutto, and Round Rock. Jackson & Ryan Architects designed the new Animal Adoptions building and renovated and re-purposed the existing facilities. Air quality, drainage, and animal habitats were improved in the original Main Building and Kennels, and support spaces have been redesigned to allow for the efficient operations of animal control intake, laundry, surgery and surgical prep.
The new two story Animal Adoptions building showcases adoptable large and small dogs in bright spaces built with resilient finishes for easy maintenance and acoustical control. The welcoming public entry lobby displays adoptable cats in a variety of environments including a popular “catio". The adoption experience at the new Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is full of exploration and discovery in an atmosphere that helps each animal connect with their forever family.
