The Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is a non-profit humane society that opened in 1925. The new Adoption Center allows the entire Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League to function as a cohesive campus, serving more animals better than ever before. This building provides additional animal housing areas with outdoor access, added office spaces, and a large welcoming lobby with retail space. A humane education center is also housed within the new Adoption Center.
The design facilitates efficient movement of animals through the shelter with varied animal housing options and get acquainted spaces with adjacent adoption areas. The center is designed to keep animals healthy while lowering the stress of staff and animals.
Both social and private cats are accommodated with cat condo rooms and cat colony rooms. The larger colony rooms connect to exterior covered catios, providing access to fresh air and spaces to lounge in the sun. The three dog wings are arranged around courtyards that contain private get acquainted areas for people to bond with the dogs. Large covered exterior play yards provide year round access to the outdoors and versatile outdoor training spaces.
